People with developmental and intellectual disabilities have been disproportionately affected by the pandemic (COVID-19).  There is heightened risk for people with disabilite, either due to medical conditions and more. 

 

There are different disability types including:

 

1. People who cannot verbally communicate their symptoms  of COVID-19

2. People with comprehension difficulties involving safety measures (for themselves and others), or understanding information about the virus

3. People with limited mobility, those who cannot avoid close contact with people who may be infected, such as family and support providers/caregivers.
